Cascabel Chilies

Cascabel (or rattle) chilies get their name from the sound they make when shaken; the seeds become loose and rattle around within the fruit body.

The parent chile bola matures to a dark red color.  When dried to achieve its cascabel namesake, the chili darkens further.  Cascabel chilies are used when near-black in color.
