Walk anywhere in Bogotá and you’ll find buñeulos staring at you waiting to be purchased.
Buñuelos are made from a wheat-based, cheese-containing dough and are frequently paired with coffee for breakfast.
Perfectly round at about 2.5″ in diameter, these guys are rotated as the float in frying oil until ready for consumption. Their exterior is a golden orange while their doughnut-textured insides are a weak yellow cake color.
This one came from a corner restaurant called Asadero la 32–on the corner of Calle 32 and Avenida Caracas, but you can really find them anywhere. There’s a place in Centro on the Septima where you can buy a bag of little bruñeulitos.
