Naranja Jugo

Narranja Jugo

Naranja is Spanish for orange.  Jugo is Spanish for juice.  Jugo de naranja is orange juice.

In Colombia, “naranja jugo” (also naranja normal) refers to juicing oranges.  They can be eaten, but they contain some large seeds.  The flesh contains some pith between sections but is not unpleasant to bite and chew.

Perhaps more notably, oranges in Colombia are never completely orange.

This orange came from the Carulla in the Nogal barrio in Bogotá.  Carulla is an omnipresent, upscale chain in multiple locations throughout Colombia; perhaps they branded the “juicing orange.”
