A Chocoramo is a rectangular portion of white cake coated in chocolate. They are made by the Productos Ramos company in Colombia. They are packaged in clear plastic wrapping and are available at most major retailers (or from people acting as convenience stores under umbrellas on street corners).
Productos Ramos is the only independent Colombian brand that competes with multinational brands like Frito Lay and Grupo Bimbo. They do all their ingredient production in-house, and some urban deliveries are facilitated by pedal-powered freight tricycles.
This Chocoramo was purchased at the Éxito in Centro Commercial San Martín on the Septima close to Centro in Bogotá.
Éxito however is owned by Grupo Éxito which is owned by Groupe Casino. Groupe Casino, also known as Casino Guichard-Perrachon, is a French mass retailer that expands the globe with its subsidiaries. They also own two other Colombian chains Carulla and Surtimax perhaps to give the illusion of choice in domestic companies.
