Cinnamon Bug Crunch

Cinnamon Bug Crunch

Cinnamon and sugar coat fried waxworms to produce a sweet crunch. Waxworms prepared in this way replace cookies or crackers for a snack that is more reminiscent of roasted almonds in nutritional value.

These waxies offer a sweet alternative to the other insect-based snacks at Bug Appétit, the entomophagy exhibit at the Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium in New Orleans.
